Mechanic Team Leader

Mission

Your mission is to lead the Mechanical Engineering Team in delivering high-quality customer solutions that are safe, reliable, manufacturable and cost-competitive. You are responsible for providing technical direction, ensuring effective project execution, setting clear team objectives, developing people and strengthening team capabilities. You will translate company strategy and market needs into practical engineering priorities and actions, enabling the team to deliver sustainable customer and business value.

Major Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Serve as the technical lead for selected complex, high-risk or strategically important customer projects, with direct responsibility for key technical and delivery outcomes.

· Identify customer and project requirements and translate them into traceable mechanical design inputs, system architecture, interface definitions, design assumptions and acceptance criteria.

· Independently complete critical concept design, engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, material and manufacturing-process selection, and FEA; make sound technical and design-risk decisions based on verified evidence.

· Represent the Mechanical Engineering Team in cross-functional planning and coordinate interfaces with Controls, Electrical, Vision, Robotics, Project Management, Production, Quality, Service, Sourcing and customers.

· Establish and lead risk-based design reviews covering requirements, concept, detailed design, verification, release and lessons learned; ensure actions have clear owners, due dates and closure evidence.

· Control technical scope, engineering hours, schedule and design quality; monitor delivery-quality indicators, raise deviations early, and lead root-cause closure and systematic prevention of recurrence.

· Direct suppliers and outsourced engineering by defining technical requirements, review gates and acceptance criteria, resolving critical issues and ensuring delivery meets quality, cost and schedule expectations.

· Support manufacturing, assembly, testing, installation and customer start-up; ensure design changes are verified, technical issues are closed and handover is complete.

· Convert project solutions and lessons learned into reusable modules, design standards, checklists and reference designs, and drive their adoption across projects.

· Translate company strategy, business priorities, customer needs and emerging technology trends into annual team objectives, capability priorities and practical engineering actions.

Education & Experience

· Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation or a related engineering discipline.

· Minimum 8 years of mechanical engineering experience in automation, assembly equipment, machine design or customized engineering solutions, including solid hands-on project delivery experience.

· Proven experience leading engineers or acting as technical lead for complex cross-functional projects.

· Experience in customer-facing engineering projects, supplier coordination, design review, manufacturing support and site issue resolution is preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

· Advanced mechanical design capability covering mechanics, materials, manufacturing, GD&T/tolerance analysis, DFMA/DFS, machine safety, SolidWorks/AutoCAD and FEA, with awareness of applicable standards such as ISO 1101, ASME Y14.5 and ISO 12100.

· Strong automation-station design capability, including requirements, layout, fixtures, component selection, interfaces, FMEA, V&V, FAT/SAT, reliability and maintainability.

· Working knowledge of machinery safety and export compliance, including project-specific CE/EN/IEC and UL/NFPA requirements.

· Working knowledge of PDM/PLM, engineering-change control, PDMlink, Workfront and SAP BOM; experience with MBSE, digital twins, virtual validation or approved AI tools is preferred.

· Able to balance quality, cost, delivery, technical risk, lifecycle value and engineering changes in project decisions.

· Strong communication and coordination skills with customers, suppliers and cross-functional internal teams.

· Good command of written and spoken English; able to prepare technical documentation and communicate in an international working environment.
