Job Summary:
The Vehicle Motion Controller Engineer designs, develops, and validates integrated control algorithms for longitudinal (acceleration/braking) and lateral (steering) vehicle dynamics. This role ensures seamless coordination between propulsion, braking, steering, and chassis systems to achieve optimal vehicle behavior, safety, and performance for both
human-driven and autonomous vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Control Algorithm Development
• Design and implement real-time control algorithms for
• Longitudinal control: torque management, braking coordination
(friction/regen blending).
• Lateral control: Steering assist and yaw stability control.
• Develop integrated vehicle motion control strategies to harmonize
longitudinal/lateral dynamics (e.g., during evasive maneuvers).
• Use model-based development (MBD) (MATLAB/Simulink) and auto-code
generation.
2. System Integration & Validation
• Integrate control software with vehicle ECUs (e.g., ESP, EPS, powertrain)
and ADAS/AD systems.
• Validate performance through simulation, test benches, road testing.
• Optimize control parameters for diverse scenarios (e.g., low friction, high-speed
cornering, failure modes…).
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work with ADAS/autonomous driving teams to enable features for L3 systems.
• Collaborate with chassis, powertrain, and safety teams to ensure compliance
with ISO 26262 (ASIL) and regulatory standards.
• Support homologation and cybersecurity requirements.
4. Testing & Data Analysis
• Conduct vehicle dynamics testing with diverse driving maneuvers.
• Analyze data, Troubleshoot and refine control strategies based on test results.
Qualifications & Skills:
Technical Expertise:
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, Python, AUTOSAR.
• Strong grasp of vehicle dynamics (tire models, bicycle models, yaw stability).
• Experience with MBD, HIL testing, and calibration tools
• Ability to interpret vehicle dynamics data (e.g. understeer gradient, slip
angle).
Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s in Controls Engineering, vehicle engineering,
Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or Robotics.
Soft Skills:
• Problem-solving for complex multi-input/multi-output (MIMO) systems.
• Good communication skills
