The primary responsibility of this role is to drive prototype trucks, evaluate powertrain performance, and provide engineering feedback to development teams. The candidate will work closely with calibration and vehicle development engineers to improve vehicle attributes such as performance, drivability, energy/fuel efficiency, shifting quality, and regenerative braking behavior.
While the current focus is on Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), the role will also support the evaluation and development of Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and future powertrain technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Drive and evaluate prototype trucks on proving grounds and public roads.
Assess vehicle attributes including:
Powertrain performance
Energy/fuel consumption
Drivability
Gear shifting quality
Regenerative braking performance
Acceleration and gradeability
Act as the link between the driver and engineering teams by translating vehicle feedback into development actions.
Work closely with calibration engineers to improve powertrain functions and vehicle performance.
Conduct benchmark vehicle evaluations and support target setting activities.
Prepare concise technical reports and recommendations.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial vehicle testing, powertrain development, vehicle performance evaluation, or calibration support.
Strong understanding of BEV and/or ICE truck powertrains.
Experience evaluating vehicle drivability and performance.
Ability to communicate subjective vehicle impressions as clear engineering feedback.
Chinese Heavy Truck Driving License (A2) is mandatory.
Comfortable driving prototype and development vehicles.
Chinese language required; English is a plus.
Ideal Candidate
A former Vehicle Performance Engineer, Development Driver, Test Engineer, Calibration Engineer, or Powertrain Engineer who enjoys driving trucks and helping engineering teams develop best-in-class commercial vehicles.
Mission:
Drive, evaluate, benchmark, and improve truck powertrains by providing expert feedback that enhances performance, drivability, and efficiency for both BEV and ICE products.
