Test Automation Engineer

Your role and responsibilities:

In this role, you will design system-level test strategies, build reusable test environments, and automate testing for complex systems involving Windows, Linux containers, embedded devices, virtualization, and networks.

You will work closely with developers, testers, and architects to identify risks, improve testability and coverage, integrate automated testing into CI/CD, and diagnose failures across software, hardware, and network boundaries.

You will be mainly accountable for:

•  Independently design system-level test strategies covering black-box, white-box, and gray-box testing, including functional, integration, system, end-to-end, regression, and non-functional testing.

•  Design and maintain complex, reusable test environments that support multiple scenarios, including automated deployment, configuration, reset, and cleanup.

•  Test Windows applications and services, Linux and containerized software, virtual environments, multi-VM systems, embedded devices, and virtual networking.

•  Develop and maintain automated tests using appropriate BDD, REST API, and UI/web automation frameworks, with reusable test libraries, test data, and configuration management.

•  Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines, integrate automated tests, deploy test agents/runners, support distributed execution, publish test results, and troubleshoot pipeline failures.

•  Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshoot interactions between software, hardware, containers, virtual machines, and network components.

•  Communicate technical problems clearly and collaborate effectively with developers, testers, and architects.

•  Apply AI-assisted techniques where useful for test-case and test-data generation, edge-case identification, automation development, and log or failure analysis.

Qualifications of the role:

•   Master in Computer Science or Engineering, Automatic Control Engineering, or equivalent.

•  3 years related working experience desired.

Strong knowledge of test strategy, test coverage, traceability, testability, and root-cause analysis.

•  Hands-on system testing experience with Windows, Linux, Docker or Podman, and Hyper-V, VMware, or equivalent virtualization technologies.

•  Strong automated test development skills; experience with Reqnroll or another BDD framework, RESTful API automation, and Playwright or equivalent UI/web automation is preferred.

•  Practical CI/CD experience, including automated pipelines, test-agent deployment, distributed test execution, artifact and test-result handling, and pipeline troubleshooting.

•  Solid TCP/IP knowledge, including TCP/UDP, IP addressing, DNS, routing, and firewalls; network troubleshooting and Wireshark experience are highly desired.

•  Experience with C#, PowerShell, Git, JSON, YAML, XML, and command-line automation is highly desired.

•  Experience with industrial communication protocols such as OPC UA, PROFINET, Modbus TCP, PROFIBUS, or IEC 61850 is highly desired.

•  Knowledge of PKI, X.509 certificates, TLS, authentication, authorization, secure communication, and remote access is a bonus.

•  Azure DevOps experience, particularly YAML pipelines, test-agent deployment, automated execution, and test-result publishing, is a bonus.

•  Experience testing embedded devices and hardware/software integration is a bonus.

•  Fluent spoken and written English, with strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
