Senior Manager, Seating System Development

Job Objective

Leading the team in charge of seating system and component for China market, including supplier monitoring, part localization projects, local development from concept to part release, functional testing, until handover to series production. Driving Mercedes Benz Interior Concepts and Driving seat concepts of Mercedes Benz

These activities in China will be performed according to the aligned workshare with the counterparts in RD Germany.

Task Description

1.Management (standard item for position with leading role):

The management, motivation and development of staff using HR tools, founded on our mission statement & corporate values, and provision of purposeful internal communications in order to achieve the agreed objectives.

Ensuring that the necessary training appropriate to the needs of individual employees and the tasks assigned to them is provided.

Informing subordinated employees about the relevant provisions and instructing them to comply with the provisions. Ensuring that they are implemented properly.

2.Plan, agree and manage the budget and headcount in accordance with key performance indicators.

Monitor compliance with budget targets, aligned with the line manager, and develop an awareness of costs among staff.

3.Drive the local development activities at RD China in alignment with RD counterparts and other relevant areas. Communicate and report development results in all relevant committees.

4.Monitor, select and manage local suppliers. Evaluate supplier development results through validation tests at supplier, internally or with third party partners.

5.Manage all technical changes from global RD organization for local and imported components and organize the handover to BBAC according to the aligned process.

6.Assist pilot runs, try outs and series productions of Mercedes-Benz cars at the production plant with technical support and profound knowledge.

7.Work together with cross-functional departments like product planning, quality and logistics, set up project milestones as well as coordinate activities to pursue tight schedules.

Education

Master’s degree or above in Electrical / Electronics, Mechanics, Mechatronics or Vehicle Engineering.

Experience

· Working experience in RD related to component development, validation and release.

· Knowledge of market and supplier base of seats, interior concept, electronic system, etc.

· Competence of seat development and industrialization processing in automobile industry.

Specific knowledge

· Fluent written/spoken English mandatory. fluent written/spoken in Chinese and German is a plus.

· Communication skills with various hierarchy levels and different cultural backgrounds.

· Project management skills to manage cross-functional teams and suppliers.

· Intercultural experience.
