Job Summary
Implement and accomplish R&D projects supporting Saint-Gobain’s polymer-related businesses, including Construction Chemicals, PPS, Abrasives, and others.
Investigate polymer materials-related projects and provide technical solutions to address customer and business needs through strong scientific understanding and systematic problem-solving.
Principal Accountabilities
1. Responsible for R&D Projects (60%):
1.1 Take charge of R&D projects as required;
1.2 Ensure project progress through good planning and tracking, and deliver quality results on time;
1.3 Understand business/customer needs and translate them into technical problems and development plans;
1.4 Propose and develop new projects based on customer needs and scientific interests.
2. Polymer Materials Competency Development (35%):
2.1 Develop competency in polymer materials, with a focus on interface chemistry and material interactions;
2.2 Build a fundamental understanding of structure–process–property relationships, and solve technical problems through systematic experimental design and root-cause analysis;
2.3 Participate in and support polymer-processing-related projects based on business and project needs;
2.4 Strengthen technical capabilities through literature/patent studies, internal and external collaboration, and technology scouting.
3. Strictly follow company EHS&5S policies and regulations. Respect and strictly comply with SG principles of conduct and action and company policies.
Qualifications
1. Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Polymer, Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science or Chemical Engineering
2. Project management experience is preferred
3. Solid background in polymer materials with good knowledge of interface chemistry
4. Strong systemic thinking, sound analytical skills and fundamental problem-solving capabilities
5. Hands-on experience in adhesives, coatings, sealants or related technologies
6. Experience in material formulation and product development
7. Proficient in written and reading English.
