岗位描述
The mission of Tesla Materials Engineering organization is to deliver new materials and manufacturing processes that revolutionize Tesla’s products.
Role
The team is seeking a Mechanical Engineer who can devote the efforts into “Engineering Joints”. This role will cover both joint designing and validation test in China to speed up Tesla’s global products.
Responsibilities
• The successful candidate will have extensive theoretical and hands-on experience in all facets of various mechanical joining technologies and related equipment, as well as experience managing new product introductions, fastener/joint design.
• Work with responsible design groups for designing joints, and torque/load calculations.
• Responsible for creating, designing, validating and analyzing, each joint on the Tesla products and responsible for relative fasteners’ drawing release.
• Lead and assist production in all quality and process related fastener/torque/clamp load topics and issues
• Lead the physical testing of fasteners and joints across all Tesla products. Assess risk within upcoming programs and ensure applicable tests are completed within demanding project timelines
• Introduce new fastener and joint tests methods into the lab’s workstream including method selection (ISO, SAE, VDI etc.), equipment sourcing and deployment, method validation, and training
• Communicate effectively with global colleagues and counterparts to ensure consistent implementation of Tesla’s testing standards, as well as to ensure prompt cross-implementation of identified testing improvements
• Manage joint verification process, implementation, and improve Joint Calculator by creating more precise data, new features, improving UI
Requirements
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience working in a related mechanical/fastener test engineering role
• Demonstrated knowledge in fields including bolted joint design, fastener production quality control techniques, mechanical behavior of materials, and experimental statistics
• Self-motivated and strong desire to learn new skills and create innovative ideas
• Experience of 2D and 3D design (Catia Preferred)
• Experience with GD&T and quality control
• Experience on fastener/joint and mechanical tests (e.g. tests clamp load, torque, joint slip test, tension, compression, bending…etc.)
• Hands-on experience with universal test systems (electro-mechanical and hydraulic) and strain measurement techniques (e.g. strain gauges, digital-image-correlation)
• Communication skills
