The Role
We are looking for a highly motivated Software Product Engineer Intern to join our APAC Service Engineering team. You will parse fleet analytic data and work with Tesla Software Product Engineer to allow a future sustainable and improved product. You will develop and improve our internal engineering specifications. You will design and test new panels on the vehicle touchscreen to help service technicians diagnose and repair the different systems of the vehicle. Your outcome will have a lot of impact and travel within all Tesla vehicles worldwide!
This role must be passionate about the product, highly self-motivated and a strong critical thinker with great fluency understanding technical system-level architecture and issues with software content. If you have solid coding skills, found of data-driven approaches, interested in maintaining contents and illustrations with high accuracy, willing to learn electric vehicle knowledge, and think implementing neat changes into Tesla vehicle is a cool thing, this is the role.
The Department
The responsibility of Service Engineering, as part of Vehicle Software Engineering, is to provide end to end engineering solution based on customer needs, to improve product's reliability, serviceability, sustainability and to implement changes to the customers based on high iteration speed.
Responsibilities
Test validation for software changes.
Design, coding, debug, and rapid prototyping / mockup of in-vehicle service experiences for UI panels and interfaces
Perform massive fleet analytics and triage failure patterns based on big data.
Developing and testing automatic diagnostic logics with python to improve our vehicles’ self diagnostic ability.
Responsible for internal enginering documentation localization and generating engineering illustrations.
Requirements
Major in Electrical Engineering/ Robotics/ Automotive Engineering/ Mechatronics/Computer Science or similar.
Familiar with CAN protocol/ data acquisition tool. Be able to use tools like CANoe, CANape, CANalyzer or similar.
Good understanding of software engineering works. Can prompt AI to output code of high confidence, or setup cost-efficient pipeline.
Able to design a most efficient testing sequence and setup testing environment per software change scope.
Have experience in using DMM/oscilloscope or similar to acquire voltage/current trace.
Capable of working in a fast paced and always changing environment.
Effective communication skills and attention to detail
Fluent in English
Nice to Have:
Have former project experience on MCU development board (e.g. Raspberry pie/NXP)
Some experience with Javascript 3D libraries / game engines (ie. three.js)
Experience building embedded systems
Experience in using Keyshot or other 3D rendering tools (nice to have)
